Raising the bar
The Dog & Partridge in Trippet Lane is renowned for its Irish heritage ? but it took on a Mexican flavour last week as customers joined in a fiesta to celebrate the launch of the pub?s new burrito bar.
Abi and Richard Golland of Street Food Chef (pictured outside the bar with landlords Sarah and Conor Smith) served up margarita slushes, a head-to-head burrito-eating competition, a traditional pi?ata and dancing with Latin American dance group Son de America.
The burrito bar is open ?12 - 2.30pm Mon - Wed and 12 - 8.30pm Thurs - Sat.
Jolly good fellow
Senior chef lecturer Mick Burke ? who has taught more than 1,000 young Sheffield chefs over the last 35 years ? has been honoured with a Fellowship of the Master Chefs of Great Britain. Mick, who leads courses at City College, is only the second lecturer to receive the accolade. He says: ?It?s a great honour ? this award is given to chefs at the top of their profession.?
Authentic Asian diner
The former Joe?s Chippy in Ecclesall Road is to reopen in August as an Indian takeaway and diner. The premises have been taken over by chef and restaurateur Abdul Ghafoor, who says: ?I am passionate about what we do. When you offer authentic dishes, using real Asian ingredients, people can taste the difference.?

Fourteen representatives of prestigious Orval Trappist Beer and three from its Belgian brewery were entertained at the Devonshire Cat in Wellington Street on Tuesday. The pub is one of only 14 Orva distributors in the UK.
