A-MAP drives regional automotive industry growth - AME Info

The company expected to grow by 25% this year, which they achieved before the end of Q4 and A-MAP remain buoyant to repeat the feat in 2013, largely due to its thriving export markets.

Car manufacturers are seeing unprecedented demand with marquee brands like BMW recording 14% growth in Q3 alone and with vehicle populations across Middle East and Africa increasing exponentially, A-MAP on track to meet its annual turnover target of Dhs1bn by 2015.

"We've seen a surge in demand for our services and products from across the region, and our new 1600,000 square feet warehouse in Jebel Ali, where we will set up operations in 2013, will enable us to scale up accordingly," said Asad Badami, managing director of A-MAP.

"2012 saw immense organizational re-structuring within A-MAP as we continue to grow, and in 2013 we will be investing heavily to increasing A-MAP's operational excellence to facilitate increasing customer demand."

With a renewed focus on fleet and corporate accounts, notable customer wins for A-MAP this year include SEWA, Dubai Police, Emirates Taxis, and Gargash Auto.

Capitalizing on the stability of the UAE and its increasing prowess as a commercial and re-export hub, A-MAP remains a genuine UAE success story, A-MAP is constantly expanding into new markets, having already established operations in Africa, Asia, as well as North and South America.

Moves are already underway to expand its global logistical operations, particularly in its growing North and South African markets.

South Africa is one of the biggest markets for A-MAP and in 2010 the country provided 0.61% of total production of vehicle manufacturing worldwide and ranked 24th for vehicle production in terms of global market share. The country's automotive trading partners, in terms of added exports and imports, were advanced economies - Germany with 43% of total trade, Japan with 19%, and the USA with 18%.

While North and South African automotive markets are thriving, the lack of a mature automotive manufacturing industry within East and West Africa means that companied like A-MAP play a pivotal role in keeping the continent moving. With the recent surge in automotive demand across Africa, the spare part sector of the automotive industry is equally important.

In the UAE, A-MAP is looking to increase its Abu Dhabi operations, as the capital is poised to become a major player in the region for the re-export of automotive goods. A notable case in point is the recent announcement from the government-backed agency ZonesCorp to build 'Automotive City' in the Mussafah area of Abu Dhabi.
