This Day In Sports History (December 17th) " Chris Henry

chris henry

It was on this day in 2009 that Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry passed away due to blunt force trauma to the head. Henry sustained the injury when he fell from the back of a truck driven by his fianc?e, Loleini Tonga.

Chris Henry was drafted in the third round (83rd overall)?of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals out of West Virginia University. Despite all of his abilities on the field, Henry struggled to stay out of trouble off the field as he was arrested several times during his professional career. Henry got in trouble with the law for many things, including driving without a valid driver?s license or valid insurance, drug possession, multiple gun charges including concealment and aggravated assault with a firearm, and drunk driving. Chris was also suspended on a number of occasions by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Although it is unclear what exactly happened on the day of his death, we do know that he was involved in a domestic dispute with his fianc?e who was also the mother of his three children. Reports say that as Loleini drove away in the pickup truck, Henry jumped in the back and later fell out, which led to his deadly injuries.

Here are highlights from Henry?s career
