A check engine light is nothing to mess around with, because it can be hard to tell whether it?s a legitimate problem or not until you have it checked out. To save yourself a little stress and a trip to your mechanic, be sure to use an OEM brand or quality aftermarket gas cap, and always be sure to properly secure it after fueling up. Among the most common engine codes for OBD-2 systems is P0442: Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected.
