5 Things to Expect on iPad Mini Release

Reuters claimed that Apple's smaller tablet "iPad Mini" will be released on October 23, which will supposedly be priced to compete with less expensive offerings from Amazon and Google.

Source of Reuters said that Apple is set to unveil a "new product" at a "major" Oct. 23 event, just days before Microsoft is slated to roll out Windows 8 and the Surface tablet.

This defies earlier reports the October 17 speculated release date. According to Fortune, Apple will start sending out invitations for iPad Mini media event on October 10. If Apple follows its usual invite-event-availability model, the iPad Mini will be unveiled on or about Wednesday, October 17.

This is supported by prediction of the Jefferies analyst Peter Misek. "By October 10, Misek said he predicts an invitation for an iPad Mini launch event will be mailed out to the media, followed by the formal announcement of the device by mid-October and culminating with the launch of the iPad Mini at the end of that month," Misek told tech website eWeek.

The iPad Mini is reported to be the new little iPad will feature a 7.85-inch IGZO display with 330 pixels/inch, 1024 x 768 resolution. It will be more affordable. It is also assumed that the new tablet will feature Apple's upcoming operating system, iO6.

Putting iOS 6 in the mini tablet will include a new, Google-free Maps app, and Passbook, and promises better Facebook integration, better maps, and better video conferences that use cellular data, according to Entrepreneur.com. It is also said to have a smaller dock connector and thinner bezel. It may also feature a music service similar to Pandora radio, WiFi, and Retina Display.

Rumors claimed that iPad Mini will cost around US$299 and US$349, which is more expensive than its rivals Google Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD that starts at US$199.

Below are some of the features that you should expect on the launching event of iPad Mini.

Screen Size - The iPad Mini will most probably feature a 7.85 inch screen display diagonally. It will be slightly bigger than other 7-inch tablets in the market.

No Retina Display - The final resolution of the iPad is not available but it can be said that the screen will not feature the Retina Display. However, the latest iPad Mini from Apple will feature an extremely high density which will render everything in great details and will offer smoothest, sharpest text and pictures.

Smaller Dock Connector -iPad Mini will most likely include an 8-pin dock connector that was first introduced in iPhone 5. ?Though the new connector is a little more costly for the iPhone 5 owners who will have to purchase the lightning adapters to run their applications on the iPhone 5, still it is a welcome development since it does away with the 30 pin connector many pins of which are obsolete and seldom used.

iOS 6 - The new device willr run with Apple's latest mobile software - iOS 6. This operating system includes new iOS Maps and other features.

Thinner Design - The pictures released in the beginning showed that the iPad Mini was significantly thicker than the original iPad, the later pictures suggests that the iPad Mini will be much thinner and is easier to carry than the iPad.?
